| Founded in 1925 by Leslie Walter Wedd, in the 1930s Dennis Wedd joined his father to assist with the developing of the company. In 1976 Peter Wedd, the grandson to the founder, joined his father in their mission to make Wedds a highly regarded, leading joinery firm. Today, still under the management of Peter Wedd the company has grown and is located in Stapleford, Cambridge in a 25,000 square foot factory housing some of the most advanced machinery available in the joinery industry. With a dedicated loyal workforce, products are designed with quality first and foremost, whilst being built to last and remain cost effective. The majority of the workforce has been with the company for many years and their skills have encouraged and allowed for the growth that has taken place, with a commitment to training to maintain our high standards we also employ apprentices ensuring these skills are everlasting. With boundaries permanently being pushed within the design industry Wedd joinery have risen to the challenges and have worked with some very prestigious names with contracts in the computer industry, world famous department stores, luxury London residential developments, hospitals, exclusive Chocolatiers, banks and the Olympics. With no contract being too small or too large we also manufacture bespoke kitchens, work surfaces and even the odd luxury rabbit home! Having been a family run local company for over 85 years has also meant we have kept our family roots, and want to support the local community in ways in which we feel helpful, this includes materials for the new Cancer Centre at Scotsdales garden centre which helps families and individuals suffering the consequences of the disease escape to somewhere for some rest and meet people going through similar circumstances. Our lorry has been used for many years as the Shelford Carol Singers platform bringing Christmas cheer to the area and giving to local charities. |
